Bordered by North and South Market streets on the sides and East Bay and Meeting Streets on the ends, the market encompasses about 4 blocks of open air shops with local vendors selling and making southern crafts. The vendors have an almost unspoken schedule, at approximately 5 or 6 pm in the summer time, the vendors who had set up their crafts in the morning start packing up, shortly there after (minutes) another group of cratsman set up for the evening crowd. So if you are visiting and do not get to the market early, don't fret there will be more!! I do have to say that there are not as many vendors in the evening as during the day but there are crafts to be bought. Not only is the market an excellent bargain for crafts there are many storefront shops, tour companies, and eateries along the route to keep you wandering for hours. Grab an ice cream or a piece of hand made candy and enjoy the old market of Charleston South Carolina.
